Chapter 67 Education Program

SR/WA Review Study Session & Exam: This 3 day seminar is designed to prepare Candidates to take the SR/WA Comprehensive Examination by reviewing the 7 core disciplines of the right of way profession. It is intended to allow participants to brush up on areas in which they may have limited experience or knowledge. It is not intended to replace the education which participants would receive through the IRWA’s courses in these disciplines. The Comprehensive Exams (United States version) will be administered at the conclusion of the review session, in the afternoon of the third day, and covers the seven (7) core disciplines:

• Dates: Thursday, Friday & Saturday, May 13-15, 2010
• All registrants must be approved as an Active Candidate for the SR/WA Designation prior to registering. PLEASE NOTE: Registrants must NOT have completed all required coursework before taking the SR/WA Study Session & Exam.

Course 801 – “US Land Titles”: This advanced course builds upon prior professional knowledge and provides participants with information about analysis of abstracts to determine who must execute a conveyance; learn terminology of title estates, covenants, liens, encumbrances, and contracts; and understand the preparation of chains of title from public records.

Course 802 – “Legal Aspects of Easements”: Designed as a course for experienced right of way professionals, this course provides the background theory and rationale of easements.
Terminology and concepts are brought to life with examples and exercises. Through an understanding of legal considerations, future problems can be avoided in the appraisal, acquisition and management of easements.
